NHS & closure

In their September issue NEWDevon CCG sang the praise of Care in the Community and how people would be better looked after in their own homes. These are the frail and elderly, people with Dementia and long term conditions. They have also consulted with the community, in this area at Honiton, unaffected! elsewhere Oakhampton unaffected!
Those of us who have worked in NHS know that people are better served in their own surroundings and in the perfect world, very few cottage hospitals.
THIS IS NOT A PEFECT WORLD
People grow old they need operations constant care and in this part of Devon they are a growing part of the population. The problem is the cost the CCG is overspent and the Tory government is not funding the increasing population so lets close some Hospital beds to save money and put the burden on the understaffed community. Don’t worry this will result in Bed blocking at the large Hospitals and operations for patients requiring a stay in Hospital will be cancelled and that will save money!!
Do not let them get away with this without expressing your views

CONSULTATION OPTIONs
The proposals have been expressed as four options, outlined in full below.
In addition to the consistent and enhanced provision of community health and social care delivered in people’s homes, the services will be supported by consolidated community inpatient beds in the following possible configurations:
•Option A Beds at Tiverton (32), Seaton (24) and Exmouth (16)
•Option B Beds at Tiverton (32), Sidmouth (24) and Exmouth (16)
•Option C Beds at Tiverton (32), Seaton (24) and Exeter (16)
•Option D Beds at Tiverton (32), Sidmouth (24) and Exeter (16)

The preferred option is A, as this combination results in the smallest changes in travel time and has greatest whole system impact.
Honiton Hospital and Okehampton Hospital do not appear in any of the shortlisted options. Subject to consultation, the proposal would mean that there will be no inpatient beds on either of these sites and the new model of care would be implemented. Full details are provided in the consultation document.
