  1. Hello Peter,

I’d like to address something that has concerned me for some time now, and that is what appears to be the moving of the town centre to where Tesco is. Certain events that were previously held in the Town hall, and also the Artisans’ Market, have all been moved there.

Now the Post Office has been moved to Harbour Road, which seems to be part of this shift further away from our main shopping area. I recall reading in the Midweek Herald that Harbour Rd is more central, which I would really like to refute, as the vast majority of residential areas are along and off Harepath Road. There are many disabled people who don’t drive and are now finding it a lot harder to walk that distance, especially with parcels…and even more so to the moved events.

May I suggest that this could also be one of the reasons why shops are closing in the centre. The loss of the delicatessen and our last greengrocers has been a huge blow to me and many others, furthering the need to use the supermarkets that are draining our town of local trade.

I’d be very interested to hear if you have had any thoughts about this.

  2. Calling all heritage-lovers and lovers of the south west!

Our Devon-based project has made it through to the finals of the National Lottery Awards, will you vote for us and get others to vote for us too please?

We are the only project in the heritage category in the South west and we have some stiff competition up-country! If we win, we will get a national stage to talk about the beauty and rich-heritage of the south west. Our motto is “Accessibility Matters”!

We are a charity called Living Options Devon and the project, called Heritage Ability, is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. We are making 20 heritage sites more accessible by providing all terrain mobility scooters, BSL video tours, solutions for autistic people as well as for the visually impaired ad those with learning disabilities. Three of our sites are in Seaton! We are improving Seaton Wetlands, Seaton Tramway and Seaton Jurassic!

Please help us to get more votes – voting closes at midnight on the 27th of July – and then it will be over – so now is the time please!
